US actress Hannah Einbinder, known for her role in the series “Hacks,” was detained by police during a protest in New York against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the United Nations.
Einbinder was among more than 100 people detained on September 24 at a sit-in organized by Jewish Voice for Peace near UN headquarters, where Netanyahu was set to address the General Assembly. Footage shows her being led away by New York Police Department officers.
Protesters blocked traffic near the UN, chanting “Stop arming Israel, let Gaza live.” After warning demonstrators to clear the street, police began detaining them at around 1 p.m.
Actress Susan Sarandon, Democratic congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier and New York City Council member Chi Ossé were also among those detained.
Inside the General Assembly hall, dozens of delegates walked out as Netanyahu began his speech.
