The claim that Can Oğuz has been appointed to head Türkiye’s embassy in Kuwait remains unverified. It concerns ambassadorial appointments signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and published in the Official Gazette dated August 18, 2026, including Oğuz’s appointment as ambassador to Kuwait.
Oğuz served as Türkiye’s consul general in Los Angeles from December 15, 2017, to November 30, 2021. Known to the Turkish community in Los Angeles, Oğuz continued his career in Ankara after that post and most recently served as deputy director general for Eastern Europe at the Foreign Ministry.
The same decision would also appoint new ambassadors to Türkiye’s diplomatic missions in Qatar, Jordan, Moldova, Djibouti, Estonia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iran and Botswana.
