A four-person crew including two U.S. astronauts reached Earth aboard a SpaceX capsule after completing its mission aboard the International Space Station. The capsule landed in the Pacific Ocean off Los Angeles.
The returning astronauts were U.S. citizens Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, French citizen Sophie Adenot and Russian citizen Andrey Fedyaev.
Crew change carried out through medical evacuation
The astronauts had been sent to the International Space Station eight months earlier to take over the mission of NASA astronaut Mike Fincke and his crew, who had fallen ill.

The crew change marked the first medical evacuation operation in NASA’s 65-year history of human spaceflight.
Seven astronauts remain aboard the station
Seven astronauts representing the United States, Russia and Canada continue their missions aboard the International Space Station.
According to NASA data, the station, which began operating in 2000, has hosted 298 visitors from 26 countries to date.
