President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with representatives of the Turkish-American business community at the Turkish House in New York on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Addressing Türkiye-US economic and commercial relations, Erdoğan said the strategic partnership between the two countries continues to develop across a wide range of areas.
Erdoğan said Ankara wants the momentum achieved in political relations with Washington to be reflected more strongly in economic and trade ties, emphasizing the significant potential between the two countries.
He noted that joint efforts between Türkiye and the United States have recently resulted in important agreements in energy, aviation and other critical sectors.
Erdoğan also said the United States currently ranks as Türkiye’s leading supplier of liquefied natural gas, adding that Ankara aims to further expand energy cooperation, including in the field of nuclear energy.

$100 Billion Bilateral Trade Target
Erdoğan said Türkiye-US economic relations should be viewed beyond current trade figures, arguing that the changing global economic environment creates opportunities for a stronger strategic economic partnership.
He also highlighted Türkiye’s defense industry, saying its NATO-standard production capabilities can contribute to the supply security of allied countries.
The meeting addressed opportunities for cooperation across a range of sectors, including industry, finance, energy, transportation, healthcare and defense.
As Türkiye and the United States approach the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Erdoğan said the two countries should maintain the momentum in their economic ties.
The Turkish president also reiterated the goal of reaching $100 billion in bilateral trade, saying he believes Türkiye and the United States can achieve the target in a relatively short period of time.
