The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) identified the perpetrator of an arson and armed attack attempt on a federal building in New York. The suspect was announced to be 43-year-old Andrew Arrabaca, a former soldier in the U.S. Army.
According to the FBI, Arrabaca poured gasoline in front of the federal building and then used a lighter and a firework to start the fire. The flames spread quickly, causing chaos at the scene.
Investigators reported that after starting the fire, Arrabaca pulled out an airsoft rifle and fired five to seven rounds. Arrabaca served in the U.S. Army as a Patriot missile systems mechanic from 2001 to 2005.
The FBI released the former soldier's identity to the public after the attempted attack on federal property.
