A Belgium-based advocacy group, the Hind Rajab Foundation, has asked the US Department of Justice to open an investigation into Israeli army commander Sean Glass and to arrest and prosecute him. In its Oct. 19 request, the foundation said Glass is currently in the United States.

The group accuses Glass of commanding the unit it says opened fire in January 2024 on the car in Gaza in which Palestinian girl Hind Rajab was trapped with relatives, and argues he most likely ordered the shooting. It is seeking charges under the US War Crimes Act and the federal genocide statute.

Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib backed the call, urging US authorities to arrest and investigate Glass. The Justice Department has not publicly responded.
