Satellite views recently updated on Google Maps show the scale of destruction across the Gaza Strip, with streets running through blocks of grey rubble and buildings hard to distinguish beneath the debris, Anadolu Agency reported. Users noted that the imagery had been refreshed, although its capture and upload dates have not been confirmed; Google’s last confirmed update for Gaza, in May 2026, covered Khan Younis and Rafah.
The imagery shows extensive damage at and around Al-Shifa Hospital, once Gaza’s largest medical complex, and rows of makeshift shelters along the coast.
The UN says 82% of structures in Gaza have been damaged. A UN report published on September 24 estimated that around 1.9 million people have been displaced, many repeatedly, and that more than 60% of the population has lost their homes. Gaza’s health ministry says more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023.
