Sahra Noor, the sister of Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar, and at least one other family member were subpoenaed as part of a criminal investigation into the immigration history of Omar’s family.
Federal agents issued the subpoenas one day after agents from the Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant at Omar’s Washington home and removed boxes of documents.

Scope of the investigation
One part of the investigation examines whether Omar’s late father, Nur Omar Mohamed, lied or withheld certain information on immigration forms he completed before becoming a US citizen.
Omar responded to the federal search of her home on Monday. She described it as an attempt by the Trump administration to intimidate its political opponents and weaponize federal law enforcement.

Omar said she would not be silenced and that she was safe.
US President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday that Omar had committed fraud and said the country wanted answers.
Vice President JD Vance said he had not been informed in advance about the search of Omar’s home.
