A young Israeli woman speaking to The Guardian at an event in Tel Aviv ahead of Israel's Oct. 27 election called for Palestinians to be forcibly removed from the Gaza Strip and said they should be killed if they do not leave.
"I think it's very important to settle and annex Gaza," said the woman, who spoke with an American accent. "I don't think this war is ever going to end unless we kick out the Arabs from there. It's our lands."
'God commanded us to take it'
When the reporter noted that many viewers in Britain and outside Israel might be shocked by her remarks, she replied: "Israel's a Jewish state. We should take it because God commanded us to take it."
Asked where the Palestinians would go, she said: "Honestly, to any other Arab country. I don't really care, except Jordan and Lebanon and Syria, those are ours." Then she added: "Or we'll kill them."
In a version of the footage published by Middle East Eye, she is also heard calling for Palestinians to be "completely" carpet-bombed.
'Not a marginal view'
Trita Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, said the remarks should not be dismissed as fringe. "Can we stop pretending that this is a marginal view in Israel? That these are the comments of a fringe minority? They are not," he wrote, adding that Western governments "continue to fund and enable Israel's genocidal policies."
