A teenager detained in Jordan on suspicion of belonging to ShinyHunters — the cyber extortion group that says it stole data on every FBI employee — is helping the bureau track down other members, sources told Reuters.
The suspect, who allegedly uses the hacker nickname “Rey,” was detained on Tuesday and has shared his electronic devices and digital correspondence with investigators, one source said. “His cooperation is critical to ongoing efforts to arrest these hackers,” the source added.

Jordan confirmed the arrest on Saturday, with state media quoting an official as saying that “investigations are ongoing with the suspect about the activities of the group and the groups it is connected with.”
What the group says it took from the FBI

ShinyHunters claimed in September to have stolen large amounts of data on every FBI employee. A Reuters review of a sample found extensive personally identifiable information, including sensitive job role, psychiatric and medical details. Analysts believe the group is made up mainly of young, English-speaking hackers.
Independent journalist Brian Krebs reported last November that “Rey” was a prominent figure in Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters, a network that included ShinyHunters, and identified him as a 15-year-old living in Amman.
