NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said at a press conference on Tuesday evening that if the US men's national team wins the 2026 World Cup, they will send a soccer ball to the Moon.
Isaacman's interesting proposal was seen as extra motivation for the team in the tournament hosted by the US.
Saying 'We will deliver a soccer ball there,' Isaacman said, 'Here is some motivation for this World Cup. This is a challenge. Alright US National Team, get the job done.'
The US is co-hosting the 2026 World Cup with Mexico and Canada. The tournament is being held from June 11 to July 19.
The US national team finished top of Group D and advanced to the round of 32. The team, which will face Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday evening local time, will advance to the round of 16 if it wins.
While the US men's national team has never won a World Cup, the women's national team holds the record in this regard with four championships.
