Türkiye’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız, hosted his New Zealand counterpart, Victoria Hallum, at the Turkish House in New York.
The Turkish mission said the meeting took place on the occasion of Hallum’s courtesy visit and released a photo of the two envoys at the Turkish House, the 35-story building on First Avenue that houses Türkiye’s UN mission and its Consulate General in New York.

Hallum is a career diplomat and international lawyer. Before her UN posting, she served as deputy secretary for multilateral and legal affairs at New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and, from 2017 to 2022, as the ministry’s chief international legal adviser. She previously represented New Zealand at UNESCO.

Ties shaped by Gallipoli
Relations between Türkiye and New Zealand are closely tied to the memory of the 1915 Gallipoli campaign. Every April 25, Anzac Day dawn services on the Gallipoli Peninsula draw visitors from New Zealand and Australia to commemorate soldiers from both sides.
