Dmitry Peskov said Russia had turned to national currencies instead of the dollar and euro after the United States blocked Russia from using them as reserve currencies.
The press secretary to the Russian president made the remarks at a journalists' briefing in New Delhi organized by Sputnik ahead of the BRICS summit.
Peskov argued that national currencies were no worse than the US dollar. The Russian official said Moscow had begun proposing the use of national currencies in trade with various countries.
