Attempts to reach Ceuta
On July 30 and 31, approximately 70,000 irregular migrants swam from the coast of Morocco’s city of Fnideq to Ceuta, a Spanish city in North Africa.
Amid an increase in irregular migration attempts in the area, the Spanish government decided to deploy the armed forces to Ceuta to ensure security.
The number of irregular migrants who died while attempting to cross from Morocco into Spain was announced as 88.
