President Donald Trump congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the people of Türkiye on Republic Day, which marks the 103rd anniversary of the Republic's founding on Oct. 29, during a phone call on Wednesday, Türkiye's Communications Directorate said.
Trump also wished success to the Organization of Turkic States summit that Türkiye is hosting in Ankara this week, according to the statement.
Leaders look ahead to a century of ties
Erdoğan told Trump that Ankara would keep working to develop relations and add momentum to cooperation ahead of next year's 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the United States, the directorate said.

Hormuz, Yemen and Ukraine on the agenda
Erdoğan said developments in the Strait of Hormuz and Yemen were being closely monitored within the framework of the Mecca Joint Defense Alliance and that efforts were underway to resolve the issues through diplomacy.
He also said Türkiye stands ready to support efforts to revive the diplomatic process between Russia and Ukraine and to end the war through negotiations.
The call came as U.S. officials marked the anniversary across the country. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore proclaimed Oct. 29 as Republic of Türkiye Day, and the co-chairs of the Congressional Türkiye Caucus issued a statement celebrating the Republic's founding.
