Donald Trump intensified his criticism of the U.S. Supreme Court, arguing that its latest rulings had harmed the country’s interests.
The U.S. president targeted the Supreme Court in a statement posted to his Truth Social account on Saturday, following legal defeats related to his administration’s trade, immigration and election policies.
Trump reacted to the court’s ruling limiting his authority to unilaterally impose global emergency tariffs. He also criticized the court’s ruling that significantly restricted his efforts to reshape immigration policies.
Trump argued that rulings issued over the past six months on tariffs and birthright citizenship had cost the United States trillions of dollars. Claiming that the rulings had permanently damaged the system governing how citizens acquire citizenship, Trump described the period as a sad chapter in U.S. history.
Trump nevertheless said they would ultimately succeed.
