President Donald Trump said in a post on his social media account that, under an oil deal reached with Venezuela, the US would resume transferring oil to its strategic petroleum reserves.
Trump said the process of refilling the strategic reserves, which he claimed former President Joe Biden had nearly emptied, would begin very soon.
Describing the move as “a gift” from Venezuela to the American people, Trump also said in a statement on August 29 that they had secured control over most of Venezuela’s more than 65 billion barrels of oil reserves.
