Assessing the war that began with U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran in an interview with Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran’s retaliation against countries in the Gulf region had surprised everyone, including him. Trump also reiterated his vow that Iran would not acquire nuclear weapons.
Trump pointed to the threat of nuclear weapons
Trump argued that Iran’s attacks on countries in the Gulf region showed that it could use nuclear weapons if it possessed them.
Trump claimed that if Iran used nuclear weapons, the Middle East and Israel would be destroyed, adding that Europe and the United States would then become targets. Trump said Israel would be destroyed if he were not U.S. president and that the Middle East would probably also be unable to survive.
He argued that economic pressure was producing results
Trump argued that the U.S. naval blockade and economic pressure on Iran were working. Describing Iran as “a country in collapse,” Trump reiterated that assessment.
