Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that the US carried out a cruise missile attack on Iranian territory. The attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 9, near the Agh Tekeh Khan Bridge in the Ak Kale district of Golestan province.
The IRGC's Neynava Corps stated that there were no casualties in the attack. Residents were urged to remain calm and not to pay attention to rumors. The IRGC warned that it would deliver an 'overwhelming response' to this attack.
US attacks in southern Iran
According to the IRGC statement, the US also carried out a series of attacks in southern Iran on the same day. The IRGC reported that civilian infrastructure was targeted in these attacks and one person was killed.
Iran retaliates against US bases
In response to the attacks in the south, Iran launched a missile and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operation against US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. The IRGC announced that its naval and air forces struck critical infrastructure at the Arifjan and Ali Al-Salem bases in Kuwait, and the Juffair and Sheikh Isa bases in Bahrain.
Following the operation, the IRGC threatened that if the US showed any further aggression, other US bases in the region would be targeted with more extensive and more overwhelming responses.
