The United States holds its midterm elections on Nov. 3. Voters will choose all 435 members of the House of Representatives, 35 senators, including two special elections, and 36 governors, along with many state and local offices.
Only US citizens can vote in federal elections. A green card does not give the right to vote, and a non-citizen who votes in a federal election commits a federal crime that can also put their immigration status at risk. Turkish Americans who have become US citizens can vote; Türkiye allows dual citizenship.

Registration deadlines and early and mail-in voting rules vary by state. In California, the regular registration deadline was Oct. 19, but eligible voters can still use conditional voter registration at county election offices and vote centers through Election Day.
Voters can check their registration status and their state's deadlines on vote.gov or their state election office's website before heading to the polls.
