The deployment of additional US refueling aircraft at Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport, straining the airport's capacity, could lead to around 5,000 passenger ticket cancellations per day. Airport officials stated in emergency planning meetings that allocating extra parking space for US military planes would cause such operational and financial losses.
This occurs as the US expands its military presence in the region due to rising tensions with Iran. Washington informed Israel of plans to intensify its strikes on Iran in the coming days. Additionally, the US delivered additional military equipment and munitions to Israel to support fighter jets.
More than 10 US refueling aircraft from Europe and the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar have reached Israel. The US military plans to deploy around 100 refueling aircraft to military bases in Israel and Ramon Airport in the south if operations against Iran expand. Over the weekend, an additional 14 US refueling aircraft were reported to have arrived in Israel.

In recent days, as the US intensified its strikes on Iran, Iran retaliated with attacks targeting facilities and bases it says are used by the US military in several countries in the region. Despite the hostilities, in June they signed a memorandum of understanding mediated by Pakistan to end their war and reach a lasting peace agreement.
