Türkiye’s Ambassador to the United States Sedat Önal and Mrs. Figen Önal attended the 24th Turkish Festival organized by the American Turkish Association of Washington DC (ATA-DC) on Sunday, the embassy said.
The festival was held on Pennsylvania Avenue NW in downtown Washington, between 3rd and 6th Streets, with folk dance performances, Turkish food, coffee and tea, a bazaar and activities for children.

“Keeping Turkish culture alive”
In his remarks, Önal congratulated ATA-DC and all participants on organizing the festival, which he said helps promote Turkish culture in Washington and keep it alive.
The ambassador highlighted the Turkish American community’s achievements in every area of social life in the United States. He stressed the importance of strengthening the community’s unity and solidarity and of passing its cultural heritage on to future generations.

Republic Day and a centennial ahead
Önal also noted that the upcoming Republic Day on Oct. 29 and next year’s centennial of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the United States will offer new occasions to bring the Turkish and American communities together.
The festival is organized every year by ATA-DC, a Turkish American community organization in the Washington area.
