U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack celebrated the 103rd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye with Turkish Ambassador to the United States Sedat Önal at the Turkish ambassador's residence in Washington.
"Delighted and honored to celebrate the Republic Day of Türkiye with my friend, Ambassador Sedat Önal in the beautiful and historic Residence of the Turkish Ambassador in Washington DC," Barrack wrote on Oct. 29.
"As we look ahead to the centennial of U.S.–Türkiye diplomatic relations, we celebrate a longstanding partnership and our shared commitment to a strong and enduring relationship," he added. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1927.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio also congratulated Türkiye on the anniversary, calling it "a strong and reliable NATO ally" in a written statement.
Speaking at the Global Security Forum in Doha earlier this month, Barrack said the United States was moving away from its traditional security-for-oil relationship with the Middle East and no longer sought to dominate the region, but was not abandoning it, Al Jazeera reported. He urged regional governments to take greater responsibility for their own security.
