U.S. President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday, calling during a dinner attended by leaders marking Türkiye's Republic Day, Türkiye's Communications Directorate said.
Erdoğan passed on greetings from the leaders at the dinner, while Trump conveyed his best wishes for the 13th summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara.

Erdoğan calls the OTS a pillar of stability in Central Asia
Erdoğan told Trump that leaders at the summit are expected to adopt decisions to strengthen the organization's role in regional cooperation. He described the OTS, which brings together more than 200 million people, as a pillar of stability and security in Central Asia.
The leaders spoke twice in less than 24 hours
The call was the two leaders' second in less than a day. On Oct. 28, Trump congratulated the Turkish people on the 103rd anniversary of the Republic, and Erdoğan told him that Türkiye was working toward a diplomatic resolution of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and Yemen, according to the directorate.
Trump and Erdoğan last met in person in Ankara in July, when Türkiye hosted the NATO summit.
Ankara is hosting the OTS summit on Oct. 29-30 under the theme "Turkic Century: Unity in Language, Thought and Deed." Founded in 2009, the organization's members are Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, with Turkmenistan, Hungary, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Economic Cooperation Organization as observers.
