Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers' meeting in Atlanta, Türkiye's Foreign Ministry said.
The talks covered freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb, the resumption of grain shipments in the Black Sea and efforts to prevent further escalation in the region, according to diplomatic sources.

A meeting on a diaspora milestone
The meeting came as Türkiye and Germany mark the 65th anniversary of the labor recruitment agreement signed on Oct. 30, 1961, which brought hundreds of thousands of Turkish workers to West Germany. About 3 million people of Turkish origin live in Germany today, the largest Turkish community outside Türkiye.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz described the agreement as a "success story" in remarks marking the anniversary.
Busy diplomacy in Atlanta
In Atlanta, Fidan also met U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and Indonesian Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir.
The United States hosted the Oct. 30-31 meeting under its G20 presidency.
