Israeli warplanes targeted numerous areas in southern Lebanon overnight. The attacks came as US-led diplomatic efforts continued to establish new security arrangements between Israel and Lebanon.
The town of Mansouri was struck after 2 a.m. local time. Loud explosions were heard in many villages and towns across southern Lebanon.
Explosions also occurred in the towns of Hadatha and Al-Tiri in the Bint Jbeil district. Simulated air-raid flights were carried out over the city of Tyre and the surrounding villages and towns throughout the night.
Hills around Nabatieh targeted
Israeli aircraft targeted the area around Ali al-Taher Hill and Dabsha Hill, as well as the Duhat Kafr Rumman area, outside Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
Israeli artillery fire also accompanied the airstrike on Ali al-Taher Hill.
Clashes resumed on March 2
The overnight attacks came after tensions between Israel and Lebanon escalated in a new wave of clashes on March 2. Israel said it launched extensive attacks on Lebanon to strike Hezbollah targets, while Hezbollah also carried out attacks against Israel.
The new wave of clashes effectively ended the ceasefire in place since November 2024 and led to new Israeli military operations across Lebanon.
Security arrangements discussed in diplomatic efforts
US-led diplomatic efforts are addressing the establishment of new security arrangements between Israel and Lebanon. The issues under discussion include the withdrawal of Israeli forces, border security and areas where Hezbollah's armed presence would be restricted near the border.
Lebanon wants the attacks to end and Israeli forces to withdraw from its territory. Israel, meanwhile, is linking any further withdrawals and security arrangements to steps aimed at preventing Hezbollah from maintaining a military presence near its border.
