Malaysia has banned civil servants from using the Waze navigation app over its links to Israel, the state news agency Bernama reported.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Cyber Security Committee chaired by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, amid concerns over the security of users' personal data and location information.

Chief Secretary to the Government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar instructed all ministries, government agencies and local authorities to enforce the ban.
A day earlier, Anwar said Waze falls under Israeli jurisdiction while authorities assess possible security risks. "We cannot compromise when it comes to the security of our citizens' data and personal information," he said, recommending the domestic navigation app TuJu, developed by Malaysia's highway authority, instead.
