Iranian President Pezeshkian met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, Pezeshkian assessed the tensions with the United States. Saying that ensuring peace and security had been his government's priority since taking office, Pezeshkian said problems should be resolved through dialogue and negotiations.
The Iranian president argued that the Americans preferred to impose their will through war, insecurity and the use of force instead of diplomatic mechanisms.
Pezeshkian claimed that the agreement signed between the United States and Iran on June 17 had been violated by Washington. He said they expected the United States to fulfill its commitments.
Pezeshkian said they would continue their efforts to reach reconciliation and understanding, adding that prolonging the war was not in the interests of Iran, the region or humanity.
Pezeshkian also claimed that there were forces within the United States that wanted the war and conflicts to continue and viewed this as serving their own interests.
