Iranian President Pezeshkian made remarks about the war with the United States at the General Assembly of the Islamic Physicians Association in Tehran. Saying he did not view the continuation of the war as an inevitable goal, Pezeshkian called for the conflict to end while preserving the country’s strength and gains.
Pezeshkian argued that the time was right to end the war, saying, "The war must end at some point. It would be better to end the war today, when we are strong and respected and the whole world recognizes our victory."
He gave no signal of retreat in the face of possible attacks
The Iranian president said his call for an end to the war did not mean backing down in the face of possible attacks.
Pezeshkian said, "We will never bow our heads to tyranny. We will stand against them until our last breath and deliver a crushing response."
Agreement signed through Pakistan
Pezeshkian described the agreement signed with the United States through Pakistan on June 17, which was not implemented because of disagreements between the parties, as “honorable and valuable” for Iran.
Pezeshkian said the agreement was approved by the Supreme National Security Council in unity and solidarity, adding that it contained no provision that would amount to surrender and that all obligations belonged to the other side.
War and negotiations are not alternatives to each other
The Iranian president said war and negotiations were not alternatives to each other. Pezeshkian said agreements must be honored and referred to Ali’s approach to peace.
Calling for unity in his address, Pezeshkian said, "If we stand together, we are strong; if we are divided, we will perish."
