Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer described U.S. Vice President Vance’s remarks about gas prices and inflation at a rally in Montana as the most accurate things Vance has said in a very long time.
Vance said gas prices in the United States were high at the rally held ahead of the midterm elections on Nov. 3. He said more still needed to be done to address the effects of inflation during the tenure of former U.S. President Joe Biden, adding that he agreed with this assessment.
Vance addresses rising energy costs
Vance said energy costs rise during periods of international crisis, noting that increases in gas prices also occurred in 1979, 2001 and 2007. He also referred to the rise in energy costs following the war Russia launched against Ukraine in 2022.
“Whenever a dictator decides to have a temper tantrum, gas prices go through the roof,” Vance said. He argued that the Democrats’ solution was “to build a few windmills and complain.”

Remarks spark debate
As Vance’s remarks sparked debate, some commentators linked them to the Trump administration through U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran and rising fuel prices in the United States.
Some users also said that Vance’s criticism could target his own administration at a time when Americans were facing rising fuel prices.
Democratic Chuck Schumer, the minority leader in the U.S. Senate, said of Vance’s remarks: “The most accurate thing Vance has said in a very, very long time.”
