Steve Bannon, the former White House chief strategist and one of the loudest voices in President Donald Trump's MAGA movement, predicts that Republicans will erupt in a "civil war" after the Nov. 3 midterm elections, according to an interview published Saturday by the Financial Times.
According to the paper's summary of the interview, conducted by Washington correspondent Alex Rogers, Bannon also expects "monster" legislative battles before the new Congress is sworn in. The FT did not make the full text freely available.

'If we win, we will win ugly'
Bannon was also quoted in an essay by FT columnist Edward Luce on Trump's final two years in office, saying the president's small-donor base had "evaporated" and that the MAGA base "hates the White House ballroom and jets from the Gulf." He added: "If we win, we will win ugly."
Luce wrote that Republicans are likely to lose the House of Representatives next week and that there is a "reasonable chance" the Senate also changes hands.
Not the first warning
Bannon has used the "civil war" label before. On his War Room program in August, he described a coming fight over the party's economic direction, pitting populist nationalists against what he called the neoliberal, Reagan-Thatcher wing of the party.
On Oct. 22, he spoke of an ongoing "civil war" between the MAGA grassroots and an entrenched party establishment, citing Georgia and Texas as examples and naming Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp as part of that establishment.
'Subpoenas flying every day'
Bannon has also warned of the consequences of a Democratic-controlled House. In an interview with CBS News' Ted Koppel taped in late September, he predicted "subpoenas flying every day" and said he expected impeachment efforts against Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
"If we lose the House, it's going to turn the White House into Fort Apache," Bannon said on his podcast, according to CBS. He told Koppel that Republicans "can't afford to lose."
