Türkiye's Embassy in Ottawa hosted officials from Calgary International Airport on Wednesday, Nov. 4, saying it pays attention to "having stronger connectivity with every corner of Canada." The embassy said it was a pleasure to welcome the delegation, which included Natalie Tomczak, director of communications, government and external relations at Calgary's airports, according to her professional profile.
The embassy did not give details of the talks. A photo released by the mission shows the guests outside the embassy entrance in the Canadian capital.
Room for more flights
The visit comes less than three months after Canada moved to expand its air transport agreement with Türkiye. Announcing the step in August, Canada's Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu said it would raise the number of weekly passenger flights allowed from 12 to up to 21 and remove the cap on all-cargo flights.
Sidhu said Canada and Türkiye traded $4.3 billion in goods in 2025. Describing Türkiye as a regional hub between Europe and Asia, he said greater air connectivity gives Canadian exporters more ways to reach Türkiye and markets beyond.
Calgary International Airport is run by the Calgary Airport Authority, a non-profit organization that also operates Springbank Airport west of the city.
