Four people aboard a high-speed boat were killed in an operation conducted in the Caribbean Sea on Sept. 19. U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said the operation targeted a boat traveling along drug-trafficking routes.
The operation was carried out by Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere under the direction of U.S. Southern Command, SOUTHCOM said. In its statement, the command referred to the people aboard the boat as "drug terrorists."
SOUTHCOM said intelligence confirmed that the boat was actively involved in drug trafficking. The operation targeted the boat, which was operating along established drug-trafficking routes in the Caribbean, the command said.
