Alev Wieland, president of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA), and Dr. Fatma Gül, founder of the Turkish American Association of North Texas (TURANT), paid a visit to Türkiye’s Consulate General in Houston.
The consulate general, whose district covers Texas and neighboring states, thanked the two community leaders for their “kind visit” in messages published in Turkish and English. Dr. Gül also serves on ATAA’s Board of Trustees.
A national voice for Turkish Americans
Founded in 1979, ATAA is the umbrella organization of the Turkish American community, bringing together more than 50 local associations across the United States. It organizes conferences, educational seminars and cultural programs and works to strengthen cooperation among Turkish American groups.
TURANT brings together Turkish Americans in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and the wider North Texas region, one of the fastest-growing Turkish communities in the state.
The visit follows a busy week for Türkiye’s missions in Texas, which marked the 103rd anniversary of the Republic with receptions for the community.
