New York City's Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs marked the 103rd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye on Oct. 29 with a message honoring the city's Turkish community.
"Happy Republic Day, Türkiye!" the office said. "New York has been a hub of the Turkish diaspora for roughly two centuries."

'Integral to all sectors of our economy'
The office said Turkish New Yorkers "have become integral to all sectors of our economy" and have formed concentrations in South Brooklyn, Sunnyside and Lower Manhattan. "Today, New York honors your contributions to our city," it said, adding in Turkish: "Cumhuriyet Bayramınız kutlu olsun!"
The message came with a graphic featuring the Turkish flag and an Istanbul skyline under the title "Republic Day of Türkiye."
Celebrations across the region
Republic Day was also marked elsewhere in the New York area, where a digital billboard at the entrance of the Lincoln Tunnel displayed the Turkish flag and a portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic.
