U.S. President Donald Trump said a meeting involving Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the Russia-Ukraine war would take place soon.
Speaking to reporters after his campaign rallies in Texas, Trump said he had discussed the Russia-Ukraine war and the conflict in Iran with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff aboard Air Force One.
We are making great progress on Russia and Ukraine. A meeting will be held very soon.
Asked who would attend the meeting, Trump replied, "President Putin and President Zelenskyy." The U.S. president did not provide information about when or where the meeting would take place or what format it would follow.
Possible first direct contact between Putin and Zelenskyy
Peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv were held in three rounds in Abu Dhabi and Geneva in January and February this year, with the United States acting as mediator.

A meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy would be the first direct meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian leaders since the war began in 2022.
Trump signals possible new attack on Iran
Trump claimed that Iran’s leadership wanted to reach an agreement with the United States but was probably trying to postpone negotiations until after the November 3 midterm elections.
Regarding Iran, Trump said, "We are in a very good position. The question is when I want to end it," but did not give a definitive answer when asked whether a new attack on Iran would be launched after the elections.
Everything is possible, but I cannot tell you that.
The war between Washington and Tehran began in late February with U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran and developed into a wider regional conflict. Despite an agreement to finalize a ceasefire and peace deal, the conflict has not been resolved.
