The Turkish flag was raised outside Boston City Hall on Oct. 29, the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye, in a ceremony organized by Türkiye's Consulate General in Boston.
Consulate officials and Turkish Americans from across the Boston area gathered on City Hall Plaza for the event. Speakers addressed the crowd from a podium set up in front of the building before the red flag with the crescent and star was hoisted on the plaza's flagpole.

A framed tribute and a day of celebration
During the ceremony, a framed document marking the anniversary was presented on the steps of City Hall. The consulate said the flag was raised "with a ceremony in front of Boston City Hall" and congratulated all Turkish citizens on Republic Day.

Families, students and community volunteers joined the gathering, many of them carrying Turkish flags and posing for photos in front of the flagpole as the ceremony ended.
The Boston event followed a similar flag-raising at Newton City Hall organized by the consulate earlier in the week. Turkish communities across the consulate's district, which covers several New England states, held receptions, balls and flag ceremonies to mark the anniversary of the Republic founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on Oct. 29, 1923.
