Several early voters in the Nashville area say voting machines repeatedly switched their selection in Tennessee's governor's race from Democrat Jerri Green to Republican Marsha Blackburn, NBC affiliate WSMV reported.
"I kept punching for the Democrat, Jerri Green, and it kept punching back to Marsha Blackburn," voter Jackie Herrud said after casting her ballot at a recreation center in Spring Hill. Another Williamson County voter, Toni Fitzgerald, described the same problem, saying the button was hard to press and she kept pushing until the machine registered her choice.

Singer Stella Parton, Dolly Parton's younger sister, said she had a similar experience at a library in Hermitage and had to correct her choice three times before calling over a poll worker. She said she was ultimately able to cast her ballot correctly.
Tennessee Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins said the state's voting systems have multiple safeguards to make sure ballots match voter intent. The Secretary of State's office said it had received one complaint of this type among roughly 400,000 early votes, and officials urge voters to check the printed review before casting.
