Current and former Pentagon officials are preparing to provide Congress with damaging information about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth if Democrats regain control of the House of Representatives in the November midterm elections, The Telegraph reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed sources.
According to the report, Democrats are preparing to investigate Hegseth if they win the House and have already made contact with potential whistleblowers. Lawmakers could subpoena members of his inner circle and revisit the “Signalgate” scandal over the sharing of military plans in a group chat.
Former officials who left after clashing with Hegseth, including Dan Driscoll and John Phelan, are also likely to be called to testify, the newspaper said.

An unnamed House Democrat told The Telegraph the party would move to impeach only after “we have done a thorough investigation and have all the facts to hand.” Rep. Melanie Stansbury has said impeachment should be one of the party’s “top three priorities” next year.
In April, a group of Democrats led by Rep. Yassamin Ansari filed six articles of impeachment against Hegseth, accusing him of waging war on Iran without congressional approval. No cabinet secretary has ever been convicted on impeachment charges.
A senior Pentagon official dismissed the criticism, calling Hegseth a transformative leader for the Department of War. No testimony has yet been given.
